My creativity and love of people is best expressed in my figurative sculpture. I enjoy this sensual form of expression with it's multifaceted aspects of surface, line, negative space, motion and emotion. I have chosen bronze as my medium for it's unique beauty and strength which allows my figures to retain a certain tension and movement and often subtle emotion. In bronze the sculpture can be solid or delicate and at the same time even defy gravity.
I begin modeling in clay with a pose or image in mind. Then I have models to help me perfect realism and add their live input to the process which results in a collaborative final product that is honest and evocative. A rubber mold is then made of my clay, a wax poured, perfected and cast. After melting out the wax the foundry pours a bronze on which we work together to finish and finally patina.
I challenge the viewer to explore and discover new things as they look at the finished art from different angles, in different light and use their eyes to caress the image and feel the sensation. It is my joy when the inspiration and hard work speak through my creations.
